Anointing of the Sick

Christ strengthens and consoles those who face serious illness, age, or surgery.

Christ’s strength in illness

The Anointing of the Sick brings the consolation, peace, and strength of Christ to those who are seriously ill, weakened by advanced age, or preparing for a significant surgery. It is not reserved only for the final moments of life.

Requesting the sacrament

  • Contact the parish when a serious illness is diagnosed or when a major surgery is approaching.
  • Elderly parishioners whose health has become seriously weakened may also receive the sacrament.
  • If a loved one is hospitalized, you may also ask hospital staff to contact the Catholic chaplain while notifying the parish.
