The celebration of a young woman’s fifteenth birthday is, above all, an act of thanksgiving to God for the gift of life. Beyond a social celebration, it is a special moment to recognize her Christian identity, her roots, and the values that will guide her as she continues to grow in faith.
To live this experience with greater depth, the quinceañera is asked to prepare not only for a celebration, but also for an encounter with God and with the Church community.
Preparation at St. Jude
- She should participate actively in the life of the Church by attending Sunday Mass each week.
- She should have received at least the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
- She is required to participate in a retreat before the celebration. This retreat helps her prepare spiritually and reflect on how God calls her to follow the Gospel in this new stage of her life.
Our desire is that the celebration of a Quinceañera or Sweet Sixteen may be a genuine expression of gratitude, faith, family, culture, and commitment to the Christian life.
